I've been searching for a while for the perfect modern reel to go along with my bamboo rods and I think I have
found a few excellent options.
What I look for in a reel is quality of build,
tight machining tolerances, smooth operation, a strong drag
with lots of adjustment range that is extremely smooth with
no jumps, backlash or startup inertia, silent no-click
operation, a standard arbor somewhat classic looking design
and all at a reasonable price point presenting a good value
to the user.
All the reels here for sale have been personally tested by
myself and a number of close friends. We have put
these reels through every possible fishing situation from
tropical to well below freezing and on fish ranging from a
few ounces to 30 pounds and more. If, after all that,
I have been 100% satisfied with the performance, I've
